Nunawading Cricket Club – Post Presentation Junior Update

Good evening all,

As I watch the Shane Warne tribute, it makes me reflect on what a great game cricket is and how privileged we are to be involved. Great friendships are made playing sport, and being around sporting clubs. This is the community that we are trying to build around Nuna.

Junior Presentation & Awards
The Junior Presentation day was a great opportunity to celebrate another great season of cricket at Nuna. Congratulations to all of the award winners. Thanks to Ben for taking photos, which can be viewed here:

I hope that all of the Junior players felt special whether they won an award or not. I also hope that the Zoom livestream helped everyone feel part of the event. The Dave Cowell Award was won by Josh Millar, a well deserved recognition of the contribution he has made to the club on and off the field. We finished the night with a massive raffle, with what seemed like more prizes than people present. Congrats to Scott and Bec for winning the major prize: 2 nights’ accommodation at “The Resort at 222” in Cowes

Thanks to everyone who set-up on the day, donated raffle prizes, served food/drinks or helped with clean-up. It is much appreciated.

The silent auction was also a great success, raising nearly $2,000. Thank you to our co-tenants, Nunawading City Soccer Club for donating the great memorabilia pieces. Well done Max on taking home the amazing Warney piece.

Planning for Season 2022/2023
We are looking to introduce the Purple sublimated kangas tops as our on-field playing tops for ALL juniors next season. I understand that this is an additional financial impost on parents ($40 each), but we believe that these personalized coloured tops (name and number) are the way forward and will look great when our Juniors represent the club. Please use the attached apparel form to order one of these kangas tops.

Indoor Cricket

If you are still looking for a game, let me know and we will try to see whether there might be a spot on a team.

Details:
– Played at ACTION Box Hill Indoor Sports
– Competitions run on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays (not just Tuesdays as I previously mentioned)
– Game times: 4.30, 5.30 or 6.30
– 6 players per side
– Season dates 26/4-21/6 & 12/7-13/9

They are also running an ‘intro to indoor cricket session’ on 5/4 at 4.30 or 5.30pm.
