Good evening Nuna Junior families,
This amazing weather can only mean one thing…cricket is around the corner!
Thanks to all of you (and the rest of Melbourne), the planned start to the season will go ahead. Friday night games (U12-U18) will begin this Friday 13th November. Super 7s and Fast 9s will also start this weekend. We are still waiting for the Assocition to update fixtures, so keep an eye out here: http://mycricket.cricket.com.au/common/pages/public/rv/draw.aspx?id=RVFIXTURE&save=0&entityid=57 and also download the MyCricket app on your phone. I have attached the 2020/21 Rules Summary Sheet received today, which is a great resource.
Registrations
If you have not already done so, now is the time to register for the 2020/2021 Season: https://www.playcricket.com.au/club-finder/club-details?id=1361. You will need your child’s MyCricket ID, which can be found by searching by name here. I think we now have about 95% of players registered online, which is great…thank you!
Registration fees:
Junior Blasters – $100
Super 7s/Fast 9s/U12s – $130 (+$5 CV insurance fee)
U14s/U16s/U18s – $180 (+$5 CV insurance fee)
Training
It was great to see the kids out at training last week, with a jam-packed week ahead.
Super 7s & Fast 9s – Monday 9th November at 5:30pm
Stage 1 Girls – Monday at 5:00pm – Morton Park, Blackburn
U16s & U18s – Tuesday at 5:30pm
U12s & U14s – Wednesday at 5:00pm
Super 7s – Thursday at 5:00pm
**Note that Super 7s training will move from a Monday to a Thursday (5-6pm). Apologies if this results in a clash for families with other commitments. This week we will go ahead with Monday 5:30pm and Thursday 5:00pm to prepare for Round 1.
Apparel/Playing Uniform
Given the massive demand on our supplier, there is a small delay on the delivery of the smaller sizes of the white playing shirts. This is likely to affect our Super 7s families in particular. Please feel free to wear any white t-shirt to start the season, but we will ensure that all players have a purple Nuna cap for their first game.
Woolworth Junior Blasters
As previously mentioned, Daniel and Claire will get a message out to Blasters families with more information on planning for the Blasters Program. At this stage, Cricket Victoria and the Association are recommending an early 2021 start date for the formal 8-week program. Nuna intends to run a couple of ‘come and try’ sessions on two Friday nights before Christmas (early December), but this will be confirmed closer to the date. Blasters families can take advantage of the new Cricket Blast program – “Anywhere Blast”. This free online program is a great way for Blasters to begin their cricketing journey before transitioning to face to face Club based programs when restrictions allow. Follow the link here.
COVID safe plan
Rob Nash has been working hard along with the committee to ensure that we are ready for a COVID safe return to training and playing. The latest is that we are waiting for our COVID plan to be approved by council and our seasonal permit to be granted.
**We encourage all parents to complete the following online infection control training module (takes about 20mins to complete) to ensure that our Nuna community are well-prepared as "we are all in this together": https://www.health.gov.au/resources/apps-and-tools/covid-19-infection-control-training.
I encourage you to download the free 1Breadcrumb app (see screenshot) on your smartphone. We are assured that all data is stored securely and the platform is supported by the Association.
